"Sealite Buoys & Lanterns “ a Work of Art!"
Sealite SLB600 & SLB1250 buoys with SL07 & SL70 lights, and Aquafloat-600 buoys have recently been constructed into a major series of sculptures and permanently installed at a new shopping centre and along the river foreshore in Mackay, Queensland, Australia.
The public artwork series by Donna Marcus is titled œTrue North , and was commissioned by Lend Lease through negotiations with the Mackay Regional Council.
The Sealite moulding division worked closely with the artist to prepare the mould of these buoys which were supplied without the usual concrete ballast and foam filling.
Sealite products were chosen due to their superior quality, long life and minimal maintenance required, but also due to the custom moulding available with Sealite ™s in-house rotational-moulding division.
The SLB600 buoys were installed with cabled SL07 lights set to steady on at 25% intensity, at the entrance to the Caneland Central Shopping Centre in Mackay.
The larger SLB1250 buoys were fitted with SL70 solar LED lights and installed outdoor, down near the river foreshore, along with another sculpture incorporating just the Aquafloat-600 buoys.
These dodecahedron pieces of artwork are an interesting edition to the local street scape, and Sealite is proud to be a part of this project.
