Sealite Wins Prestigious International Duke’s Choice Award for “Java Technology & the Environment”
Sealite’s commitment to innovative and environmentally aware products has rewarded them with the 2009 Duke’s Choice Award in the category of “Java Technology and the Environment” for the GSM Cell-Phone Monitoring and Alarm System.
Winners of the Duke’s Choice Award are selected by the ‘father of Java’, James Gosling, Vice President of Sun Microsystems, and a panel of Java technology experts at Sun. The award is judged on the innovation and creativity of projects using Java™ technologically-based applications that benefits customers, industry and society.
Sealite’s cutting-edge, environmentally-friendly, GSM Monitoring & Alarm System technology beat thousands of entries submitted by developers and companies from around the world.
Utilization of the power of Java technology has allowed Sealite to develop their GSM Cell-Phone Monitoring and Alarm System to efficiently monitor the status of marine navigation lanterns from anywhere around the world.
The advanced GSM system is internally integrated into a range of Sealite lanterns with no external aerials or base station required. Each lantern is fitted with it’s own SIM card, which provides a designated cell-phone contact number for each GSM enabled lantern, allowing users to interrogate and receive auto reply SMS and/or secure web portal lantern diagnostics.
