Sealite’s Poseidon Ocean Buoys Aid in the Recovery of Sunken Korean Navy Vessel
Sealite’s Poseidon-1750 Ocean Buoys have been used by the KHOA (Korean Hydrographic & Oceanographic Administration) and Korean Navy to assist with gathering data to aid in the salvage and recovery of a Korean naval patrol ship that sank in the West Sea.
Authorised Sealite distributor, Oceantech Co., purchased the 2x Poseidon buoys from Sealite headquarters and modified them for Hyd-Met Monitoring. The monitoring on the buoy was able to measure wind speed, wind direction, air & water temperature, air pressure, current speed & direction, wave height and wave period. CDMA communication for data transfer and Orbcomm Satelite communication with GPS was also installed to ‘watch-dog’ the buoy.
Due to Sealite’s in-house manufacturing capabilities they were able to provide the buoys promptly in this urgent situation. The information gathered by the buoy was able to assist the authorities in recovering the sunken navy vessel.
Sealite would like to thank Oceantec for providing the photograph and information included in this article.
