Sealite’s production capabilities steadily increase allowing expeditious response to emergency situations
Recent expansion of Sealite’s production facilities and in-house manufacturing gives Sealite a competitive advantage by allowing them to respond rapidly and efficiently to demand for large quantities of lanterns and marine buoys.
This has been illustrated by Sealite’s ability to ship close to 6,000 Sealite SL15 and SL60 Solar Marine Lantern to the Gulf of Mexico over the past few months. Within days Sealite was able to ramp up production the injection moulding of its bases and lenses, circuit board manufacturing and general assembly to rapidly respond to the demand.
The lanterns were used to mark oil containment booms in the Gulf of Mexico. The oil spill stemmed from a sea-floor oil gusher that resulted from the April 20, 2010 Deepwater Horizon drilling rig explosion. Oil containment booms are temporary floating barriers that are being used to contain the oil spill helping to make recovery easier. The containment booms also reduce the amount of oil reaching the shorelines to decrease pollution.
