Next Generation Solar Modules Provide Up To 60% Increase in Solar Charging

Over the past few months, we have begun shipping our ‘Series II’ model SL-15, SL-60, SL-70, and SL-75 marine lanterns.

These lights are now being fitted with next-generation solar modules, that utilise an increased surface area within the lantern and higher efficiency photovoltaic cells. Solar cell efficiency refers to the portion of energy in the form of sunlight that can be converted via photovoltaics into electricity.

This improvement is resulting in approximately 15 – 60% solar charging improvement, depending on the model.

In practical terms, the improved charging performance allows the lanterns to be installed in poorer sunlight regions or operate on more demanding duty cycles.

Whilst the Sealite part numbers remain unchanged, customers can distinguish the next-generation solar modules by being darker in colour and their performance is reflected in the ‘Series II’ identification within the online solar calculator here.
